What Each One Actually Offers in Texas
Track Your Hours is the longer-established product and it does serve Texas. It publishes a Texas LPC page and lists a Texas plan at $89.95 for one year. That page is written for the counseling track: it names the LPC and does not name the LMFT Associate or the LMSW to LCSW route, and it does not mention BHEC by name. If you are an LPC Associate who wants a prepaid annual plan, that is a real option and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
HourJourney was built for all three of the pre-license tracks BHEC oversees, because they behave differently enough that one generic hour log serves none of them well. The LPC Associate track runs on a monthly supervision minimum with no total. The LMFT Associate track runs on a 200-hour supervision total with a weekly session and a 750-hour cap on virtual direct hours. The social work track runs on a 100-hour total that stops counting past 10 hours in any month. Those are three different pieces of arithmetic, and they end in three different board forms.
The other honest note: Track Your Hours also covers New York, which HourJourney does not. If you are licensing in more than one state, that matters.

Months, Not Weeks, and Three Sets of Arithmetic
Texas counts duration in calendar months on every track: at least 18 months for the LPC Associate (22 TAC 681.92(c)), two years for the LMFT Associate (801.142(1)), and at least 24 full months for the LMSW route, which keeps running even if the hours and the supervision total finish earlier (781.403(b)(7)). There is no weekly hour cap and no weekly supervision ratio anywhere in the three chapters.
Supervision is where the tracks diverge hardest. An LPC Associate needs at least 4 hours a month with no more than half in group and no stated total (681.92(e)). An LMFT Associate needs 200 hours in total with at least 100 individual and at least one hour every week while providing services (801.142(3)). An LMSW needs 100 hours in total, proportional to hours worked, with no more than 10 counted in any one month or 30-day period (781.403(b)(8)). Read those three rules next to each other and it is clear why a single weekly counter does not fit Texas. The detail lives in Texas LPC supervision requirements and Texas LCSW supervision requirements.
Every Texas board form is also filled out one supervisor at a time, which means the totals have to be kept per supervisor from the first logged week rather than reconstructed at the end. That is true whichever tracker you use.
What Comes Out at the End
HourJourney generates the Supervised Experience Documentation Form for the LPC track (revision 5/4/2026) plus the optional Supervision Hours Log, the Supervised Experience Verification Form for the LMFT track (revision 8/26/2026), and a PDF carrying the same information as the LCSW Clinical Supervision Verification Form. That last one is a replica rather than the board's file because BHEC publishes it as a Word document, and 22 TAC 781.405(a) accepts "a form with substantially equivalent information". One per supervisor, with initials, the recommendation and the signatures left blank for the people who sign them.
Track Your Hours states on its Texas page that it makes sure forms are filled out correctly, without naming which Texas forms. If forms are the deciding factor for you, ask them directly which board files they output before you buy. Our field-by-field walkthroughs are public either way: Supervised Experience Documentation form and Supervised Experience Verification form.

Both Free Trials Cost Nothing
Neither product asks for a credit card to start, so the cheapest way to decide is to log a week in each. What to compare while you are in there:
- ✓Whether your track is supported at all, not just the LPC one
- ✓Whether duration is counted in calendar months or translated from weeks
- ✓Whether supervision totals are kept separately for each supervisor
- ✓Which Texas board file comes out at the end, by name and revision date
- ✓What happens to your data if you change jobs mid-way
Built for Texas pre-licensed clinicians.

FAQ: Track Your Hours vs HourJourney in Texas
Does Track Your Hours support Texas?▾
Yes, for the counseling track. Track Your Hours publishes a Texas LPC page and lists a Texas plan at $89.95 for one year, checked on 7 September 2026. That page names the LPC and does not name the LMFT Associate or the LMSW to LCSW track, and it does not mention BHEC by name. Verify the current state of it yourself before deciding; comparison pages age.
Which Texas tracks does HourJourney cover?▾
All three that BHEC oversees: the LPC Associate working toward LPC, the LMFT Associate working toward LMFT, and the LMSW on a Clinical Supervision Plan working toward LCSW. Each carries its own rule set, so the app counts a monthly supervision minimum for LPC Associates, a 200-hour supervision total with a weekly session for LMFT Associates, and a 100-hour total capped at 10 counted hours a month for LMSWs.
Which Texas board forms can each one generate?▾
HourJourney generates the LPC Supervised Experience Documentation Form (revision 5/4/2026) and the optional Supervision Hours Log, the LMFT Supervised Experience Verification Form (revision 8/26/2026), and a PDF carrying the same information as the LCSW Clinical Supervision Verification Form, which 22 TAC 781.405(a) permits because the board's own file is a Word document. Track Your Hours states on its Texas page that it fills forms out for you but does not name which Texas forms on that page.
How does the billing differ?▾
Track Your Hours sells prepaid terms: its Texas plan is listed at $89.95 for one year, and its California plans run $89.95 for one year, $159.95 for two and $199.95 for three, checked 7 September 2026. HourJourney bills monthly rather than as a prepaid term. Both offer a 30-day free trial with no credit card required.
Do either of them count Texas hours in months rather than weeks?▾
That is the thing to test. Texas counts duration in calendar months on all three tracks: 18 months for the LPC Associate, two years for the LMFT Associate, and 24 full months for the LMSW to LCSW route. There is no weekly hour cap and no weekly supervision ratio on any Texas track. Any tracker built around a weekly model has to translate, and that translation is where errors show up.
Which one should a Texas LPC Associate choose?▾
If you want a prepaid annual plan from a longer-established product, Track Your Hours has a Texas LPC offering. If you want month-to-month billing, coverage that follows you if you switch tracks, or you are on the LMFT or social work path rather than counseling, HourJourney is built for all three. Start both free trials if you are undecided; neither asks for a card.
Is this comparison current?▾
It was checked against both products' public pages on 7 September 2026. Pricing and feature coverage change. Treat every claim here as a starting point and confirm on the vendor's own site before you buy.
