How many supervision hours does a Texas LPC Associate need?
Chapter 681 states a monthly rate rather than a total: a minimum of 4 hours of direct supervision per month while you are engaged in counseling, unless your supervisor approves an extended leave of a month or more in writing (22 TAC 681.92(e)). No more than 50 percent of your supervision may be group supervision. Because the experience must span at least 18 months, an Associate finishing at the floor has received at least 72 supervision hours in practice, but no total is stated in the rule.
Do practicum or internship hours count toward the 3,000 in Texas?
No. Practicum and internship are degree requirements documented on the Texas Practicum Documentation Form, and hours obtained before the LPC Associate license is issued do not count (22 TAC 681.72(a)(6), 681.91(c)). The rule is explicit that hours obtained by an unlicensed person in any setting will not count.
Is there a weekly hour cap for Texas LPC Associates?
